The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, also as The American Rescue Plan or COVID-19 Stimulus Package was signed into law to help the businesses, individuals, and families recover from economic hardship caused by Coronavirus.
Apart of that law was the enhancement of what we know as the Child Tax Credit, to reduce child poverty by assisting families with a monthly monetary payment.
Q: Who is eligible to receive payments?
Individuals or families who filed their 2021 taxes that claimed a “qualifying child”.
Q: What do they mean by a “qualifying child”?
A “qualifying child” is claimed on your taxes as your dependent who does not turn 18 before January 1, 2022.
