Renata Cobbs-Fletcher Named the New President and CEO of Northern Children’s Services
Northern Children’s Services Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Renata Cobbs-Fletcher to the position of President and Chief Executive Officer starting on June 22, 2015.
Cobbs-Fletcher has almost 20 years of leadership experience in nonprofit administration, research, and evaluation, specifically in the areas of children, youth and families, and criminal justice. In particular, her expertise in program design, implementation, and measurement will advance Northern’s ability to provide evidence-based services to our region’s citizens who are faced with challenging life circumstances.
Colleagues comment that Cobbs-Fletcher “possesses a quiet burning passion for her work” and “inspires confidence among stakeholders.” Cobbs-Fletcher will surely capitalize on Northern’s assets and her expertise will guide Northern as it works towards its mission to support the healthy development of children, while stabilizing families to build stronger communities.
This appointment follows a diligent search for a visionary leader who will collaborate with trustees and management at an exciting time in the organization’s 162-year history. Northern’s recent renovation of the historic Merrick Hall building increased the organization’s capacity to provide residential housing for young and expectant mothers from 16 to 28 families. Also, the agency’s ongoing partnership with Tabor Children’s Services resulted in the creation of Tabor Northern Community Partners, a DHS Community Umbrella Agency (CUA). In combination with Northern’s existing child welfare and behavioral health programs, these new initiatives further demonstrate the agency’s commitment to ensuring a more promising future for children and their caregivers.
