Meet James: Making progress in school through behavior changes

Nine-year-old James’ disruptive and destructive behavior landed him in Northern’s school-based behavioral health program, Intensive Behavioral Health Program (IBHS). Soon after this referral, his older brother died. Through Northern, James received individualized services to address his behaviors in the classroom and process his thoughts and feelings about his brother’s death. Today, James has shown significant improvement in his behaviors, becoming a model student for other children in IBHS. He has made such an improvement that his therapist has begun discussing discharge with his teachers and parent.
